Sabrina Murphy

My journey to becoming an RD was a long one filled with many great experiences along the way. I grew up playing soccer and basketball and when I got to college, those careers ended, but I still wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. I began my academic career with a major in exercise science where I learned about strength and conditioning and quickly realized that was the field for me.

I then went on to complete my master's in exercise physiology, during which I was granted an NSCA fellowship allowing me to work at Haverford College as a strength and conditioning coach assisting all varsity teams with their speed and strength training. I then spent 4 years working at Villanova University working with field hockey, women's rowing, track and field, women's soccer, women's lacrosse and football. In addition to my responsibilities as a strength coach, I managed the weight room fueling station and worked to optimize the offerings available to the athletes. However, providing snacks is only a small part of a dietitian's role and during my time at Villanova, I saw firsthand how the lack of a sports dietitian impacted the health and performance of the athletes. This led to me returning to school to earn another master's degree, this time in nutrition and dietetics, which allowed me to become a Registered Dietitian.

I spent one year working at Drexel University as a sports dietitian with men's and women's basketball as my primary teams but assisted with all of their varsity teams as needed. At the same time, I worked for The Renfrew Center where I gained experience with varying eating disorders across multiple levels of care. I also teach virtual courses at the undergraduate and graduate level for Penn State University and King's College respectively.

I am passionate about improving performance through nutrition as well as how under fueling impacts athletes not only in sports but in the classroom as well!

When I'm not at the gym, you can find me spending time with my husband, Joe, and our two dogs, Cooper and Bucky.
